There are a few ways to export or copy content from Workflowy into other apps.
1. You can use the "Export all" option via the "gear" icon top right of your interface, or the "Export" feature that can be selected when hovering over any list's bullet. This will "select" the data for quick copying, from which you can paste into other apps.
Included among the export options, we also offer OPML formatted exports which are compatible with many other outliners.
2. You can also use our multi-select feature: Just highlight one or more lines with your mouse and then use Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste into other apps. You will, however, need to expand all lists first before copying if you plan to use this method.

both with hover-export and multi-select copy-paste, when i paste the text into say an email, the bullet points and outline formatting are carried over. if i use mac pages for example, the bullets are removed automatically.
pages for some reason removes the formatting, which is nearly always what i want to happen.
my request is to be able to copy/export without outline bullets and other formatting.

the point being (no pun intended) that i often use workflowy for drafting, with its outliner text organisation facility, so exports are much more relevant to word processing and text than to other outliner environments.
@Konnekt I usually do a find/replace in Notepad++ to get rid of all the bullets. But yes, the option to cleanly copy/paste or export without bullets would be nice.

When I copy/paste this to Google Docs, or even Atom.io, the nesting goes haywire. Anyone else see this? I exported a few different ways (HTML, Cmd-C, and OPML which I then converted to HTML) and still can't get a clean UL to use. My hope was to copy an outline over to a clean Google Doc to flesh it out.

Workflowy is basically my replacement for the MSWord Outline view because it runs in the cloud. So, when I'm done outlining the novel and need to do some serious editing and text formatting, I need to switch back to MSWord to use the full fledge formatting options. While copying from WF back to MSword preserves the indentations, it is just plain text ("Normal", in MSWord terms) and not ready to be worked on immediately.
Would love to have the Paste function automatically set the texts to Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3 accordingly to the level of indent in WF.
Any chance the ability to export a branch can be added to the Android app?
I have the pro version which now saves everything to my dropbox.
Can you tell me simplest way that I can open the data file saved in my dropbox so it formats in same way as it appears in workflowy. Right now, it is very raw, and would take me more time than it is worth to reconstruct.
Wondering if there is anyway to script or automate the export process for backup purposes? I know I can backup to Dropbox, which I do, but I'd like a readable backup if, god-forbid, Workflowy were to shutter it's doors one day. My life is in this app...

The idea of using copy/paste is fantastic, except that pasting into a simple text program like Notepad++ strips it of all formatting whatsoever. No bullets, no nesting with spaces, nothing. I realize some people do not want formatting in it, but I think that's a minority. As a user, I expect there to be at least something that transfers over so I can differentiate between levels since structure is inherent in the value of recording things in this format to begin with. Maybe for those users that do not want formatting in their copy/pasting, there could be a setting for that.
Pasting a workflowy list into google docs messes up all of the formatting (the bullets are there, but Gdocs does not properly recognize the nesting).
My success has been pasting into Word with "paste and match formatting", and then copying that into Google Docs.
Hope this helps someone as I spent at least an hour trying to solve this!
