Update notifications

What are update notifications?

Update notifications are the different ways that Workflowy lets you know that you have unseen updates.

There are four different ways that Workflowy lets you know you have mentions:

• The updates icon in the menu bar on the right-hand side
• The hamburger menu icon if the left-hand sidebar is closed
• The all updates button in the left-hand sidebar
• The starred and home sections of the left-hand sidebar

In the updates icon

The updates icon in the menu bar will have a notification dot if you have an unread update.

Note: The updates icon will only be shown if the two following conditions are met:

1. You have an unread update 2. The unread update is located within your current zoom level

1. Click on the updates icon to view the updates within that space
2. You can click the notification dot again to return to your previous view

In the hamburger menu icon

The hamburger menu icon will have a notification dot if you have an unread update.

The hamburger menu icon is located on the top-left of the window.

Note: The hamburger menu icon will only be visible if the left-hand sidebar is closed

1. Click on the hamburger menu icon to open the left-hand sidebar
2. Click on the All updates button to view unread updates
3. You can click the All updates button again to return to your previous view

In the All updates button

The all updates button is located in the left-hand sidebar at the top.

Note: The all updates button will only be visible if you have unread updates.

1. Click on the All updates button to view unread updates
2. You can click the All updates button again to return to your previous view

In the starred and home section

The starred and home sections are located in the left-hand sidebar. Items you star will be displayed in the starred section and the home section shows your entire Workflowy workspace.

If an item in the starred or home section contains an unread update, a blue notification dot will be displayed to its left.

1. Click on the blue notification dot of a starred or home item to view the mention within that space
2. You can click the notification dot again to return to your previous view
