Multi-factor authentication is when a user must provide two or more pieces of evidence to verify their identity to gain access to an app or digital resource.
So if a hacker gains access to your login ID and password, they still can't login without the second authentication method.
Note - Please make sure you understand how MFA works before turning it on. If you don't follow the instructions correctly, you run the risk of losing access to your account if you lose access to your authentication device or recovery codes
- Choose and download an authenticator app
- Click the options button in the menu bar
- Click the 'Settings' option
- Toggle the 'MFA' setting
- You will be asked to confirm your password
- Enter your password and click 'Confirm password'
- Click on 'Setup MFA'
- Copy and save your recovery codes somewhere safe
- Click the 'Next' button
- Open the authenticator app you chose
- Scan the QR code using your authenticator app
- Your authenticator app should display a
- Click the 'Next' button
- Enter the six digit number code from your authenticator app
- Click the 'Close' button
To turn off multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Click the options button in the menu bar
- Click the 'Settings' option
- Toggle the 'MFA' setting
- You will be asked to confirm this option
- Click the 'Disable' button
To view recovery codes
You can access your recovery codes after the MFA setup process from the settings panel.
- Click the options button in the menu bar
- Click the 'Settings' option
- Click the 'Show recovery codes' button
- The codes will be displayed and you can then copy, print, and download them
- Copy, print, or download the new recovery codes
To generate new recovery codes
Note - This will render any current recovery codes useless, so be sure to save the new ones you generate
- Click the options button in the menu bar
- Click the 'Settings' option
- Click the 'Show recovery codes' button
- Click the 'Get new codes' button
- You'll get a confirmation pop up
- Click the 'Ok' button
- Copy, print, or download the new recovery codes
