Text selection glitching

A new bug has appeared when selecting text in browser on Windows 10 / Chrome (everything up to date). The same bug is present in Safari on the latest MacOS for Apple Silicon (M1 MacBook Air hardware), however I do not know what the behavior was like before my recent MacBook purchase.

The standard behavior was and should be: A double-click on a word selects it and a formatting popup appears - this works.

What doesn't work is a triple-click for selecting the whole line/paragraph. The text is selected, but the formatting popup doesn't appear. For the popup to appear the text (whole line/paragraph) needs to be selected manually.

Needless to say, this seemingly minor bug is super frustrating, because it makes working with the app noticeably annoying. It breaks the flow of the usual "technique" of working with text that has been firmly established for many many years now in pretty much all apps that allow users to work with text.
