Unwanted Context Menu

Can't agree more. It also feels totally unnecessary to have a menu showing the features that almost everyone in the world does with shortcuts: (Command+B, Command+I, Command+K; and for underline I don't know the shortcut but who underlines a text that's not a link? and that's achieved automatically with Comand+K)…

But the problem is not just its redundancy, but on top of not being functional, it is huge for what it is and blocks the content that is indeed valuable for us to be able to read.

Please Workflowy, I understand you need to add more and more features in this competitive note-taking market, but please do it in a non-obtrusive way, please please please don't stop being that minimal super functional cool app you have always been!

    Thanks  :)

    Hi folks,

Hmmm, I agree 100% too... only thing is that this context menu is a precursor to several things that we want to do... such as color highlighting... It's a work in progress.

I like to highlight text during presentations to create contrast between what Im focusing on and the context in the background, but Im unable to reference the context in one motion. Besides that I like to highlight text as Im reading through a large paragraph, as a sort of placeholder, so I can scroll the page down or look away for a sec and not lose my place in what Im reading. Moo.do had the same annoying feature and I asked them to disable it. Not sure if they did because I chose workflowy as my primary project management app, it turned out to be less buggy overall.

Nothing should ever popup and block text in a notetaking or brainstorming application. Workflowy is so versatile yet even notepad has you beat in the reading comfort department. I go as far as to paste stuff out of workflowy to anything else just to read or present it without this problem, so please patch this inefficiency. Once you resolve this issue it will become a delight to flow through a presentation, highlighting topics along the way. Or when I'm brainstorming I highlight a concept and read whats above and below it for insight, and I gottta say this is a real bummer. Visiibility can never be an issue for this software space... Whats it gonna take, what can I say to make it go away and bring that buttery smooth expereinece to my daily driver.

Frank, I would appreciate it if you let the devs know.

I find the formatting toolbar in Moo.do to be quite functional though, because it offers a lot of useful shortcuts with no standard hotkeys, such as strikethrough, monospace, and more importantly, it allows you to change the prefix to a node and set it to be a bullet, numbered list, checklist, project, nothing (no prefix at all), etc). But if you still don't want it there, it even allows you to close the menu just inside that same menu and also the ability to completely disable it on the global settings, just toggle off the «Enable formatting Toolbar».

Reading that WorkFlowy approach is just a work in progress makes sense because it would be super useful if we could have some of those features in WorkFlowy, too! Changing the item's prefix, setting some selected text to be monospace, setting the item priority, etc. enables a lot of great uses.

It was just silly to find such a big menu just to offer bold, italic, and link underline. So, knowing it is in development will make us patient to wait and see what WorkFlowy has to offer us soon regarding new formatting options    :)
