Autopopulate boards

Hi all, 

I think it would be neat to use hashtags, or a variation of hashtags, to be able to autopopulate a pre-determined board. For example, I could use #todo to populate a #todo board macro list, while keeping each individual task as linked notes to various project boards. To make a more specific (& simple) example, this could look like: 

1. Three boards: Project 1, Project 2, #todo
2. Project 1 board includes information from meeting logs and the item "Email Ben about the deadline update #todo"
3. Project 2 board includes other assorted meeting logs and the item "Send Jill the accounts spreadsheet #todo"
4. The #todo board would then autopopulate with both tasks.

I know that we can search for hashtags but I haven't used the feature much because I dislike having high priority items split across all of my boards. I would rather see all of these items in one place. I imagine this would become especially useful in doing task prioritization, e.g., #todohigh (priority), #todomedium, etc.

If any of this is feasible, this idea could potentially expand out further to include "#todo by DATE" with linked incorporation to the Dates feature in Workflowy. I don't think that's as critical though but I figured I'd include it as one direction that the feature could go in.

  Hi folks... we are indeed planning this exact thing... it'll be called "search nodes"... not only for boards... but also lists. We just need the time and space to get to it... but it's right up there.

  Came here to request this! I would use it for the exact same thing, to auto populate lists with items from multiple nodes.

  I think it'll solve my issue too, but as I'm not 100% sure I understood, let me explain what I'd like to do :

  I'd like to contextually populate a ToDo category in Board view.

  For now we can mirror nodes (beta) but not mirror tag results in the board.

  Example of what it would do : 

  Contextual ToDo list (Useful to know what to do depending on my mood)

  • #Communication

  1. Autopopulated search from all the tags #Communication in other lists.

  • #Writing

  1. Autopopulated search from all the tags #Writing in other lists.

  • #VideoRecording

  1. Autopopulated search from all the tags #VideoRecording in other lists.

  Hey @Frank, is there something we could do to push this up? I really think it is the gamechanger for Workflowy. I do understand that once you start designing such a feature it can get a bit complicated, but I'm positive it is doable. At what stage are we now?

  I was just logging into the requests feature to request exactly this.   Yes SEARCH NODES would be HUGE!

  Especially with boards - the ability to have board columns show specific searches would be incredible.  Combined with the DATE SEARCH features too....
