    Hi Pierre,

We will inevitably build a find-and-replace feature into WorkFlowy... but for now, 2 interesting points:

    1. WorkFlowy recently came out with a dates feature, which can be activated in your Settings menu:

    https://blog.workflowy.com/2019/12/30/dates-in-workflowy-try-it-out/

    2. There is a fantastic find-and-replace bookmarklet that should work in any browser:

This maybe just my own lack of expertise but I don't understand how one is supposed to install this. The instructiions say drag the link to the bookmark bar. Using Chrome and Windows 10 this doesn't work.

The instructions are: 'Go ahead, install this bookmarklet… which takes you to here: https://rawbytz.github.io/find-replace/.... for installation

Installation: Drag this link to your bookmarks bar.....

Does that mean save the link destination as a bookmark....how's that supposed to work?

It just takes you back to this page....?  https://rawbytz.github.io/find-replace/#installation-drag-this-link-to-your-bookmarks-bar

    which is just circular...

    What am I missing?

    Hi,

You just need to make sure your bookmarks bar is visible, either on Chrome or Firefox, then drag and drop:

Then, when you go to Workflowy, all you need to do is type the term you want to replace in the search bar and the Find/Replace dialogue will pop up:

    Hope this helps :)

There have been instances in some browsers (old versions of Safari for example) where you can't drag bookmarklets.  Here's the workaround:

    1. Create a regular bookmark to any webpage in the bookmarks bar.
    2. Right click the bookmarklet link > Copy link address (or similar)
    3. Edit your regular bookmark, rename as "find/replace" or "F/R".
    4. Replace the URL field with your clipboard

Plus +1 here for a Find/Replace function within the app and the Windows application. I know it's on the roadmap. Just voting on the desire for this because it is so helpful in tag management and other finding tasks.

Thanks for the web workaround for now.

    Hi Workflowy,

How much closer are we to "inevitably"?

    Thank you.

A native "Find and replace" engine is one of the essential features WorkFlowy is still lacking.

    • Find and replace for the bullets data
    • also for the text in the notes (cmd+shift notes)
    • and super necessary for renaming and merging tags!
