    Hi D,

We'll be coming out with documentation shortly! Also, things will be tweaked, enhanced and built quite rapidly moving forward :-)

    Hi Daniel!

You can see a show-and-tell here:

Just saw your announcement of dates and search on the web.  Can’t seem to find either in Settings.  Ran the latest TestFlight, shut down WorkFlowy.  Restarted.  Nope.  Downloaded (the latest? Can’t tell version...) WorkFlowy from the App Store.  Nope. Restarted.  Nope.  Please help. I’m running the iOS version. Regards, George.

    Hi George,

In regular WorkFlowy (no need for TestFlight)... whether in your browser, desktop app or iOS, you can go into Settings and scroll down to "Experimental features" to activate "Dates" and "Search helper".

Some comments - I tried it (thank you Frank for the link).  I enter my dates with dots instead of slashes - is it possible for workflowy to recognize that, or would that get confusing with currency and other numbers?

I don't have much use for the day of the week - can we change the format so it's just the numbers?

    Hi Daniel,

We are looking at date format options as we speak... probably the biggest request thus far as been to implement IOS date format display... which would essentially just be numbers, as you asked :-).

As far as dots instead of dashes... I see the appeal!... and it seems like WorkFlowy does in fact recognize this :-)

Frank, Sorry I just haven’t been able to get the Date Feature to work in the mobile app. It works fine in the web version, but definitely not in the mobile. I’ve confirmed that both dates and search are enabled in the mobile app.I noticed in your video you mentioned that “It works a little different in the mobile app”. That video shows a tool bar with a date icon. My toolbar does not contain a date icon. Can you tell me how to add the date icon?

Hi George, sorry this is turning out to be such a runaround! This is a little perplexing... because I don't know of anyone who has not been able to activate these features... and yet I know you're not a rookie user and do dig into the details. I'm assuming that you've deleted your app and re-installed from the app store... could you do check and see if you've got the "beta" experimental feature toggled? Also, would you mind logging in on mobile browser to see if you can see this feature there (and also confirm that in your WorkFlowy Settings on mobile browser that you've got Dates and the Search Helper activated... and see if anything shows up?

Have you been able to test dates on your desktop or any other device (at least to see what it's like while we're troubleshooting)?

Frank, Thanks for your support.  I deleted WorkFlowy from my iPhone and iPad, then re-installed them from the App Store. The date feature works now on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Not sure why such a simple thing became a problem.

    Regards, George.

Now that my Date Feature is working, is it possible to have WorkFlowy enter the date as, for example, 2020-01-20?  I use this format because it sorts well and intuitively in many different Apps, and avoids the use of the “ / “ which can confuse filenames. Regards, George.

Hi George, happy to see you got Dates up and running on all your platforms/ devices!

As to your question... absolutely!... we are building options for date display as we speak :-)

    Have a great week ahead!

Hi Frank, I see you're planning to add support for varied date formats. Can I request that you add full user customisation of the format, perhaps in a similar way to how TextExpander allows you to build date snippets? I know user preferences vary very widely on date formats. For years I have used the shortest possible format for simplicity and ease of ordering - yymmdd (e.g. today's date would be 200124) - and I would like to be able to continue using it via the new feature. Thanks!

Great - so complete flexibility then, by the looks of it.

    Thanks

So maybe I missed something here... :/ I use the YY.MM.DD format for simplicity and auto ordering. It works very well with trees (Ie. top node is 19 with sub nodes 19.01, 19.02, etc for months, then under those nodes are 19.01.01, etc.). I just got to a point where I could start integrating the auto date feature. However, it keeps changing the format to the Workflowy default of "Day, Mon DD, YYYY". That's cool and all but I'd *much* rather it auto use my own preferred format. For example, if I type "next monday" and hit tab for the date auto-correct it changes it to the "YY.MM.DD" for next Monday. Currently, Workflowy automatically recognizes the date when I type it in my preferred format so I know the code could theoretically output it.

Am I missing an option somewhere that would let me change that? If not could we add that? It doesn't seem like a huge add. I imagine that there is somewhere that dictates the format of the auto correct feature. If you referenced a text box in settings for the variable I could just type in "YY.MM.DD" as per the recognized dates document that was posted earlier in this thread. Then it'd just work and be super adjustable.

    Thoughts?

I see notes about this feature in our shared WorkFlowy outline daily... that's how I know it's being worked on as we speak :-)

Hi Frank, you mentioned a “shared WorkFlowy outline daily“... is this something internal for WorkFlowy or do we have access? Curious on updates and timing.

Absolutely lovin the new dates feature!

    Hi Grant,

This would be the internal WorkFlowy communications! We haven't published an official roadmap... but I know the team is working in 6-week cycles for certain projects. Dates changes and additions should be rolling out soon!

Hi. I'm wondering if any progress has been made on ISO date format. Assuming it may be available sometime in the future if I use todays WF date format (eg. Fri, Feb 26, 2021 at 8:21pm)  will I be able tweak a setting in the future so that all of these can be reformatted when displayed? Or am I better off continuing to use ISO dates in my WF accounts as I already am? Thank you.

    Hi Andrew,

We are in fact going to work on different date formatting options not too far from now... and one's current date feature will plug into that and convert what needs converting :-)

This is good news, thank you! If you need beta-testers please let me know. I am considering using Workflowy as a key part of a project I am working on at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to track the design of oceanographic instrumentation. It would be nice to test out your planned implementation and see if I have any suggestions to make for this use case.
