I've been having the same issue for both the IOS & Android App. Its become extremely buggy and slow & It takes a few seconds to stop freezing, also when you paste something in WorkFlowy, most times, the screen freezes for a few seconds and automatically scrolls all the way to the top if you've scrolled down. I wonder if there is anything being done about this because its become pretty useless on both IOS & Android.

    Hi Mr. Aamer,

Is there any difference when deleting the mobile apps and re-installing? We're working on these slowness issues as we speak!

Initially it works fine but soon after the problem reappears and the slowness and constant freezing and restarting is excruciating. What once took 10 seconds to do now takes several minutes.

    Hi Mr. Aamer,

There is no doubt that this is a bug that the app needs a new release for... and we are about to come out with a new mobile update in about a week or so... maybe sooner. It's in the works!

In the meantime, would you try using your mobile browser at workflowy.com?

I have in fact tried using my mobile browser for WorkFlowy, and it’s sad to say that it’s just as bad as the mobile app, it constantly freezes and lags, then automatically and constantly refreshes the page by itself. I can’t use it much due to this.

    Hi Mr. Aamer,

We've deactivated a major experimental feature that may have been the cause for a lot of this slowness. When we release for one platform, we should release for all... so... mobile, desktop and browser.

Would you happen to know how many WorkFlowy bullets/ lists you have? If you'd like to get an exact count, here's a tool you can use:

    https://rawbytz.github.io/total-bullets/

All you would need to do is drag the "totalBullets" link to your bookmarks toolbar in any browser... and you can then click on it when you are viewing WorkFlowy. This will give you a total bullet count.

    Hi

I just checked & I have 316,050 bullets, which is quite a lot. I'm curious to understand why this is only affecting the mobile applications of Workflowy & mobile devices & not the desktop app if the feature is enabled on all platforms, I have an iPhone XS & I don't see why Workflowy would freeze so much compared to my laptop. Care to shed light on why this might be so?

    Mr Aamer,

I don't have any light to shed as to the behavior on different platforms... but in my experience with support, those who are experiencing slowness issues and have an account size as large as yours, upon exporting old projects to backup (and then deleting those in WorkFlowy), thereby decreasing the number of bullets in their account, have returned to a much quicker and snappier WorkFlowy.

Thanks for the tip Frank, I’ve never thought of doing that. I could probably cut my bullet size by 1/4. I’ll try & see if it makes any difference.

    Hi Mr. Aamer,

Often just exporting a couple of older projects should do the trick. Nothing drastic like cutting your whole account down by percentages...

You'll find another side effect of exporting lists you don't need in WorkFlowy: You'll get less false positives when you do searches.

I've exported a lot of data out of WorkFlowy... and some of it I've imported back. Once you know how, it's easy.

A tip for exporting: Create a series of folders that mirror whatever hierarchy you have in WorkFlowy and export your lists by project... and pop the export files into folders (Maybe Dropbox), nested like they would be in WorkFlowy. That way you'll be able to locate exported projects/ data quite easily:

Here's my top level in Dropbox:

Thanks for the advice Frank, never thought about getting less false positives, its a great incentive for doing it as it always takes me a while to find what I’m looking for. Thankfully It seems as though the problem has been fixed, Workflowy is no longer freezing constantly on IOS & its working as it previously used to

As my daughter's swimming instructor shouts out periodically: Woohooo!

There's nothing like having a WorkFlowy account that can actually load :-)
