    Although you have a totally valid use case/ suggestion, many WorkFlowy users may not want this behavior...

    All tags account-wide will show in autocomplete suggestions... because they exist. The only way to not have the tag in the autocomplete suggestions would be to eliminate it account wide.

    This behavior works nicely for most WorkFlowy users because even though they may have completed an item with a certain tag in a certain list/ outline, they may wish to use the same tag again... and if not available via the autocomplete suggestion, it would become a manual affair... i.e. one would have to type the whole tag out from scratch.

    Frank, Yes that seems right.  I find the Tag Auto-Complete feature to be easy and convenient.  One has to exercise a little control over tags however.  If you have many-similarly named Tags, it might be difficult to find the one you need.  Perhaps why some may want only tags-in-use to appear?

    Hi George,

    That is certainly a logical and valid line of thought – only having "tags-in-use" appear in the autocomplete suggestion...

    However, let's say I have a GTD tag, "@desktop"... and I'm in the habit of completing all of my items that I've done... and if all of my "@desktop" tags are hidden (because they are completed), I would still want "@desktop" to appear in the tag autocomplete menu... because it's still a tag I'm wanting to use (even though all items with this tag are completed).

    The above scenario is one that many WorkFlowy users would lean on and would not want certain tags to be unavailable in the autocomplete suggestions owing to all of the tasks tagged therewith being completed.

    There are still others, who would like to filter out their completed items by tag...

    I hope this makes sense.

    The only way to not have a tag appear in the autocomplete suggestions is if, in fact, one deletes all instances of the tag account wide... even from among completed items.

    I think this can make the cocept has it's consistency, build a tag tree . like:

    @tags

          @location

                    @desktop

                    @bed

           @time

                 @today

                 @tomorrow

    sth...

    and this will make  "completing all of my items that I've done, but "@desktop" still to appear in the tag autocomplete menu."

    how about this? when someone uses tags, workflowy automaticly build a tags list for them.

    Hi Xiaoyu,

    I think your suggestion would be a great one to talk about in the WorkFlowy Users group on Slack. Please send me an email (frank@workflowy.com) and I'll send you an invite link. I think what you're suggesting goes beyond features and into workflows. There are many users who would love to engage with smart ideas like these :-)
