Search Tags for Non-Linear Flow
Could we get a new tag called "Search"?
It could use a question mark.
Imagine this list...
- Todo
- - Now
- - Later ?#Calendar
- #Calendar
- - #2019 #Jun #28th
Now when I click ?#Calendar, Workflowy would exercise a search for the #Calendar tag.
Currently there is no way to click on a #tag and see tags from outside of your list.
This would also add the ability to use Workflowy for creating flows, combining unique tags and search items.
Example:
- #a0 Goto ?#a1
- #a1 Loop to #a0

I see where you're going with this. Though I wonder if organizing your lists differently would achieve the same affect with current search functionality?
Being able to global search without going back to home could be a good function to have. Though more niche in usage since Workflowy allows you to structure everything in ways that you typically would search within the structure, not outside it. Just my thoughts

This connects with a major problem I have with Workflowy; the inability to be able to integrate a sub-list in more than one location (or in this case to jump to it from a second or even third location) perhaps outside the current location in the structure. A forced strictly hierarchical structure is a nice pure line but it doesn't fit real work usage, and the only way currently to do this is to embed the http link to the other location which is not very elegant and can only be created within the browser page not the desktop or phone app.
We really need something akin to the Windows file system 'hard link' where you can insert a link to a sub-list at any other point in the list and so seamlessly access that sub-list from more than one location. There are a few complications with hierarchy (eg where is "up" when there can be more than one up) but these just need some though and a few conventions on how it will operate.

Alan you mentioned real work usage. For the life of me I am struggling to see what real work usage this could be. Sounds more like a niche. Software design, writing, information storage, bookmarks, etc all fit the nested list scheme. What type of work are you trying to use Workflowy for?

I would definitely vote for the ability to search for ALL items which share a certain tag, without first having to return to the Home Screen. As it is, if you click a tag while you’re zoomed into a particular view, you’ll only get items with that tag from that view. That’s inconvenient when your trying to consolidate items into a view, and need to see where they are in other views / topics.

Alistair and George have hit on the problem elaborated in my feature request. 🙂 Make tags a bit handier please!
