Pasting screenshots from clipboard to Workflowy is the only feature I can think of that's missing from Workflowy, and I've been using Workflowy for years.

We'd love to implement an images feature! We just need to get our reminders and other date-related features out the door and then we'll have a chance to think about the other significant features on the table... and inline images is right up there!

I too would love inline images.  I use workflowy to keep track of my agenda, and track meetings, as well as notes. I work as an architect and frequently need to use an image to describe a situation.

To save them being screen hogs a captioned thumbnail that expands full screen would be the best I think

    Hi David,

We're definitely deliberating on this! We like the idea of having the image shown in a lightbox – where you can then also flip between any other images on the page :-)

When I take notes from an online information product or listen to a webinar Im constantly clipping images and dragging them into BEAR. If you were able to do this I'd be all over this program. Along with bidirectional linking. With images and bidirectional linking I can't see any reason to use Obsidian or ROAM. You'd gain a LOT of clients.

Allow it to show inline. You'll lose context if you only allow me to open a lightbox to see it. Ive used dozens of these since 1981. Inline only way to go.

    Hi Ed,

We're gearing up to bring images to WorkFlowy. Bi-directional linking is on the way not too far from now. We already have mirroring (transclusion) available for testing via beta.workflowy.com (you need to activate "Mirror" in your Settings menu).

The lightbox dynamic, were it to be implemented, as far as I understand, would not be to replace inline images... but simply allow for a sort of presentation mode for images already displayed within a particular outline.

Adding my voice asking for images!  I'm new to workflowy and I love it, but just realized I can't add screenshots.  Not sure if I will be able to continue using it for everything now.  I'm sad because I really like the program.

    Hi Frank,

Any update on the image attachments?
I'm starting a hunting course, and would like to use WorkFlowy by my study.

For me it's important to able to see the images next to my lines.

Hopefully this will be possible soon?

    Hi Sjoert,

Absoluetly... we are actively working on this feature. Document attachments. It may be a few more weeks until we have a prototype :-)

I'd like to add my request for images - am thinking of moving to Workflowy but can't until images supported. Nice product though.

Love Workflowy! It's gotten so much friction out of the way but images are core to my approach to idea generation so would love to test out inline image attachment soon. Keep us posted about this important update, Frank!

Another vote for images.  I heard a rumour a while back that the devs have a working prototype.  Any update on when that might be made available in the beta channel ?

Hmm are you saying we can take a screen shot and drag it into workflowy now?

    Hi Ed,

Yes! You just need to activate "WorkFlowy Labs" in your Settings menu and then "File uploads".

Thanks Frank. I notice when I import and click on the image it takes me completely out of WF and the back arrow doesn't recover it. Is that suppose to happen? thanks again. VERY important feature.

Also Frank, I see there is linking to other entries but it doesn't automatically place a back link on the page I link to. Is that going to change any time soon?

    Hi Ed,

We're busy working on bi-directional links, which is a whole separate feature to inline linking :-)... because some folk would like to simply link without backlinking.

Hey Frank, seems I remember a post last summer saying it would be ready early fall. How much longer do you think Bi-Directional linking will take? Im debating to stay with the expensive ROAM or not. Thanks

    Hi Ed,

We worked long and hard on bi-directional linking and have a working prototype (internal use). We ran into some issues which we need to deliberate on and which we will take up again once we've polished image and file uploads :-)

Wow that's good to hear. Let me know if I can help in any way by testing. I will sign up for your yearly program when both bidirectional and images are working. Keep up the good work. Do you by any chance have a Facebook group?

Sorry Frank, one more question. Im assuming the changes, in particular bidirectional linking will not render my entries so far obsolete? That the transition will be transparent? Thanks

    Hi Ed,

I'm not sure I understand your 2nd question. Not everything would get linked... only those items you choose to. By all accounts it seems like it will be seamless.

Here's an invite link to the WorkFlowy Users Group on Slack (No Facebook group):

Hi, Is it possible to paste images in workflowy? I activated labs but didn't see any file uploads.

I found is possible. After labs activation I needed to logout and login back.
