Widget for Android

This would be great, also a simple widget to add something to a predetermined list for quick capture -- kind of like how the Clip to Workflowy extension works.

Being able to pin the contents of a node, even just the top level contents, to my phone's home screen would be incredibly valuable.

-Pin a node in a widget

-That node's top level children are visible in the widget

-Clicking a child in the widget opens the app at that node

These features would legitimately make the difference between this being a very useful app and it being a full on replacement for onenote, which I have been using as my primary not taker for years.

A widget is a very good idea

Yes please! A widget is the only option that I'm missing.

+1 for widgets or any kind of quick add features for iOS and Android

Like everyone else said, a widget for seamless capture would be a game changer. It's the best list-making and organizational app, but not having the function to quickly add makes it so much less useful in capturing ideas, and it's the only reason I've left workflowy on several occasions.

The widget could literally just add the idea to a predetermined list (EG: my "inbox" list) without opening the app and navigating. Other features, such as being able to have a list constantly visible on homescreen or a quick bar to add thoughts to three pre-selected lists could be helpful, but the option to quick capture to at least one particular list would increase this app's usefulness 100%.

+1. would love a widget for both quick add, as well as for opening to a particular node, e.g. my todos node for a particular project node. Biggest missing feature (and I'm a paying user!) that would get my daily use.

Is there any news about this feature?

I would find the possibility to display a bookmarked list (a saved search) very useful. A compact view like that in "quick dynalist" would be quite helpful.

None as of yet. Sorry! We need to build 2FA and color and a few other things... and we are also hiring new team members to develop at a faster rate :-)

The ability to quickly add items on the go is very dearly missed. NB, a well-meaning attempt to fill this gap was shot down by WF staff themselves.. https://github.com/rmnoon/WorkflowyList/issues/3#issuecomment-493828573

    Hi Filip,

    Are you referring to this?:

I got a Play Store copyright takedown from the Workflowy people because of the name and the icon which is the reason I had to pull the app itself.

It doesn't say what the name was and what the icon looked like... and we're certainly not into shooting down folk who want to fill in any gap. There are many 3rd-party WorkFlowy extensions and even a coupe of apps that people have and are developing. We welcomed/ welcome these.

We're wanting to come out with an official API to streamline things for developers... and more specifically, we've been building up our team over the last year plus so that we can get the developing in that we need for widgets and the sort. While it may not be something we're working on immediately, it's certainly on our list. We know it's a necessity.

Now I'm using another app for current todo lists as a widget on Android Screen. And workflowy for work & information & checklists and other stuff

It will be perfect if workflowy will have ability to use quick and useful checklists as android widget. Right now It's to hard to open app and go to special Node every time, when I want to add/remove/mark done some point from daily list.

You can see the reference - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stuff.todo
I want the same for workflowy. Simple todo list from some Node

Sad to see this is so low on the list by popularity!

I feel like a widget akin to Google Keep's widgets would be key!

I'd like to be able to pin a task list to my home screen and mark individual tasks as 'done'.

We're working on a quick add option... but no widget.

Re quick add: In the meantime, we have Send to Workflowy https://send-to-wf.app/ It works like a charm for  dropping notes into a predefined node in WF without waiting for the main app to load (a good minute on my phone). On Android, you can add this (or any other) website to your home screen to make it function essentially like an app.

Adding a new (inbox) item to my WF, WITHOUT opening the app on a smartphone/maybe PC would be crucial.

I made a FIGJAM draft about the possible flow
(So a widget with an input field popup in the home screen of my smartphone, OR a long tap interaction with the WF icon, without a widget.

On PC this could be the same with a keyboard shortcut)

Why is this little thing is so important? Just search "gtd+workflowy" in youtube, count the tutorials, and you have the answer.
What I need to use GTD/CODE system effectively are 2 things:

    1) to add a new item with less possibility of distracting myself from the things I actually do.
    2) and to do this as fast as possible (2-5 sec)

The COLLECT phase is the backbone to all GTD-like personal task management system, even Tiago Forte-s CODE system.
    ref: https://youtu.be/tOS53fSDqVw?t=185.

(~4-years ago my GTD habits worked 5X more effectively, just because of this little trick. I used a third party (IFTTT) to create custom button on my smartphone. This button sent a mail to my personal inbox address at Nirvana, and whatever content the mail had, I got that as Inbox message in the background. Latency wasn't a problem, because this was the whole point: NOT open Nirvana, just write down an idea (a todo, forgotten stuff, a grocery item etc) in 1-2 sec, and go back to flow! So after, in the ORGANIZE phase I can process it)

I paid full membership to Nirvana HQ just for this little feature, and somehow it broke, that's why I changed to WF, but waiting 30-60 sec is not viable when I just want to quick-add something

    ANANT KANDPAL

Hi, I like to keep 10-20 WF tabs open on my desktop toquickly navigate between different sections of my workflow. I'm missing this ease of access on android. I have to navigate using WF shortcuts, quite cumbersome. Can you do it as notion does it, just having shortcuts of nodes on the android home screen? Here is an example from my mobile :

Anant, that would be great. Meanwhile, you might find it useful to create a WF "dashboard" node for mobile, containing mirrors of only those nodes that you use most frequently on mobile. In dashboard mode, it's very simple to swipe though the dashboard's panels (child nodes).

I like the idea of using mirrors and a dashboard view to create a "mobile view."  But I have a question about using mirrors as a way to duplicate data in order to look at it in different ways.  I created mirrors of large parts of my outline in order to group them differently so I could create specific searches, similar to creating a "mobile view" as mentioned above.

Do the mirrors you create make your outline larger?  Could you mirror so much that you make your whole Workflowy so large it breaks?  How big would an outline have to be to break it (if that is possible)?  In other words, do mirrors create actual nodes or just point to the original ones?  Are too many and too large of mirrors a bad thing?

As you suggest, mirrors just point to the original ones. (That's why any change you make to a mirror is instantly reflected in the original, and vice versa.) So they do make your outline larger, but only by a tiny amount.

I'd love the ability to be able to pin a node (plus subnodes) to my phone screen on Android, or even just create a shortcut that would open Workflowy to a specific. That way I can effectively "pin" certain nodes for quick access, such as my current To Do list or an upcoming event/travel agenda.

Quick entry to a given node (as a subnode) would also be a useful widget, as there are a few places I keep less formal scratch notes, and being able to quickly fire one off would be great. Right now the process of opening Workflowy, navigating to a specific location (even via Starred shortcuts), then entering a new node is too slow, especially as the Android app tends to take 10+ seconds to launch
