    Yes! This and Reminders are both high on my list.

    Simply give us the ability to press "Command + K" over a selected word we choose and insert a long URL via a hyperlink url box. That way the url address becomes hidden under that simple word we typed in (hyperlink).

    Long URL links in WorkFlowy look very ugly, they are messy to manage, and often becomes buggy with some extension domains.

    This "command + K" feature would be super handy also to insert some internal WorkFlowy url address to some bullets we want to make get access from another part of our organizational tree. At least it might be a hack before there is a more elegant integrated way to make aliases for original bullets.

    This is the one feature that's keeping me from upgrading to paid

    I would have learned about the Command + K trick so worth reading this, thanks Max, but also waiting for the embedded link functionality to be implemented.

    Sure, even something that you can click to navigate and rightclick to edit...

    1) Select some words

    2) Right click the selection

    3) Select insert hyperlink

    4) Popup window to edit the link or to remove it..

    Thanks!!!!

    Hi Brigitte,

    What we have now is the ability to edit the link with any text you'd like (maneuver your cursor somewhere inside any link, write your text and delete the superfluous text on either side)... we're going to be doing the typical Ctrl+K popup soon. We're basically experimenting with a bundle of link-related features right now.

    That is quite an esoteric way of handling things. I hope there'll be support for Markdown format instead.

    Esoteric indeed. This will become obsolete soon...

    @Kyle

    I think the chances of Markdown are slim. WorkFlowy is a WYSIWYG interface... MD is bi-modal (view/edit).  There will be a popup with title and URL fields. If you are just pasting raw links and editing, this will be faster than creating MD syntax.

    When will this be ready?  I have links that are hundreds of characters, and I want to embed them.  Please make this a priority -- it is something that would make this tool so much better.

    It's ready already!

    We're finishing up some polishing with the popup box and how to activate it...

    Renee,

    Currently you can test it out by placing your cursor somewhere within a link > typing anything you want > deleting the link text to the left and right. We're going to release a popup box for this any moment now :-)

    If you go to beta.workflowy.com and enable the "Link editor" feature in Settings, you'll get an "upgraded" version to tinker with. This should come to the regular WorkFlowy domain next week :-)

    Love the new Link Editor feature!

    But when I create a named link in Chrome (latest version), when I click the link it opens a new tab.

    How can I get it to open the link in the same tab?

    Thx! And Kudos to the team for this new feature!

    Hi David,

    Are you saying that when you click on an external link in WorkFlowy, you'd like to get it to load in your WorkFlowy tab? You want to move away from WorkFlowy? Or are you talking about internal links that take you to other WorkFlowy lists?

    @Frank

    My bet is this is a relative links issue... if you copy and paste a link on beta, and then click on it in production.. it opens in beta.  (new tab). The internal links feature needs to use relative links, so they open in your current domain regardless of where they were created.

    This is an internal Workflowy link of the type.... https://workflowy.com/#/zzzzzzzzz

    I use the new link naming tool to rename it to something like ... Test Link

    Then I click Test Link from inside Workflowy and instead of jumping to that link location directly, Workflowy opens a new instance in a new tab and then relocates to that link location.

    I'd prefer to click the link in Workflowy and have it jump directly to the Workflowy location it points to. I really don't want to open a new tab, load a new instance of Workflowy, and then navigate to the Workflowy location indicated by the link.

    Is that helpful?

    @David

    I believe this confirms my theory.  The Link Editor feature is only available on beta.workflowy.com.  Your example above is for the production domain workflowy.com (no beta. in the url).  In your case, if you add beta. to the url it will open in the same tab.

    But you shouldn't have to do that... WorkFlowy can fix this with relative links.

    @rawbytz -- thanks! that's very helpful! And, of course, a quick test proves you're exactly right!

    Now that I understand, I'm fine with it. I'm sure this will get smoother as we get closer to a production release.

    Thx again!
