ctrl-v not working in desktop version downloaded today

Used desktop version to bypass ongoing problem with "paste", ctrl-v in internet version. Unfortunately, I refreshed desktop with new version announced today. Now I can't ctrl-v in desktop either. How do I get back to previous desktop version that worked?

  Can you tell me more about how this fails?

  * Does it never paste?

  * Does it paste and then vanish?

  * Does it paste incorrectly?

  * Does it work intermittently?
