    Agree, even if I prefer to use a link to a pastebin.com containing the code excerpt!!

    There is a newer competing app – Notion – which has been vying for my attention.  I love the simplicity of Workflowy, but I too use it for software and not having the code block support in Workflowy feature has been a thorn in the side for a while now.  I hope this gets addressed so that I don't have a reason to explore elsewhere.

    Came here to vote for this. It's always a pain trying to save code snippet.

    Inline and block code formatting is an essential feature to add, please

    Doubling down on the above sentiment. I love workflowy but the frustration of working with code snippets is real.

    I would also love this. I prefer using WorkFlowy over Notion, but not being able to have inline and code block formatting is getting increasingly frustrating.

    Huge need for this. Learning about code is the only situation where I will use Notion to take my notes over Workflowy.

    Also, the ability to set monospaced font in only just some selected bullets would be quite useful

    especially when imputing numbers, prices, dates, article codes, etc.

    In this regard, I believe this other feature request is related to this one:

    I would also *really* like to get this feature! Code snippets are a huge part of many users' daily workflow and the fact that we dont have syntax highlighting is a huge issue.

    So true, especially if the code block contains an URL and then Workflowy converts it into a link immediately.

    Code blocks and code highlighting would be a godsend.

    Something like

    ```javascript
    insert code here
    ```

    Would be perfect.

    Even as simple thing as one line monospace code snippets would be appreciated

    Hi,

    Also need this, Dynalist has it and it works really well (Markdown styles).

    Do the workflowy guys have a view on this?

    Hi guys,

    Yes... we do have eyeballs here :-). We have this on our own wish list, which is different to what we've planned for the next sprints... but we recognize this would fulfill a need!

    +1 also from me! I understand this feature could not be as common as in our tech eyes... :)

    so maybe as a on/off switch.

    Hi @matrello,

    This is a rather common request. Code formatting. We'd love to implement!

    Could be worthwhile evaluating the takeup by implementing Ian Svoboda's original request (which sounds exactly like what Slack does) - and then extending it to code formatting if there's sufficient takeup.

    +1 as well, in case this can help move the needle.

    This one is on my "top 3 most wanted" list. (The other 2 being time-based notifications on mobile, and even more importantly fixing problems with keyboard focus.)

    +1 for this. I've come over from Notion and love the app but will be forced to jump ship back if the team don't intend on implementing this any time soon. @Alessandro, do you have an ETA that you'd like to aim for?

    I'm surprised that this isn't a core feature.

    @Alessandro, do you have an ETA that you'd like to aim for?

    I am just a user, like you, so I don't have any particular insight. However, Jesse mentioned the following on Slack, about a month ago:

    It is absolutely 100% planned. It’s really blocked only by an extension system for textual entities, which we’ve been working toward. This and many different types of text formatting (you could imagine markdown working the same way it does in slack now, where it gets replaced on the fly)

    So, no ETA, but it's planned. (And about the lack of an ETA, it might be better this way: as much as I'd like to have this feature, I'm willing to wait a bit longer if the WorkFlowy team needs more time to implement the underlying infrastructure so it can handle other similar cases, to improve on a recently released feature, or deal with some other priorities.)

    Came here by searching whether Workflowy supports this (currently my code snippets are a bunch of nested bullet points, which is....less than ideal)

    Great to hear that it's being worked on!

    Hi Christopher!

    In the meantime, you could paste your code into WorkFlowy notes... to move into a bullet's note, just hit Shift+Enter.

    Long-term WorkFlowy Pro member here, this is my #1 feature I'm waiting for also as I'm forced to use other apps which support code highlighting for these snippets.

    Adding my voice to the list! I was ready to move back to Workflowy from Dynalist when mirrors were announced, and even more so now that images are supported, but alas, inline code formatting is a deal-breaker as I have so much content that depends on it.

    Multi-line code snippets with syntax highlighting support would be nice too, but in-line code formatting (alongside bold, italics, and underline) would be sufficient to tip the scales for me.

    👍🏿+100

    • multiline code formatting for notes
    • inline code formatting for bullets and their notes

    Using this Chrome extension - Workflowy Code Formatter, might suffice for those who really want something in the time being.

    I also second in-line code formatting and would also ask for LaTeX support so that I can easily jock down math equations that I might need :)

    I've used the Mathflowy Chome extension in the past, but it broke a while back and would like this feature for the desktop app.

    Thanks!

    I use Workflowy for everything, and I loved the simplicity of it just being a simple to-do list style app, nothing more. Then you guys added a ton of features, and I had no idea what I was missing out on.

    •  Bullets vs Boards, File Uploads
    • The side bar
    • mirror
    • templates
    • internal links

    You keep making it better and better!!

    I would also love the requested feature of in-line code blocks for taking notes on code snippets. for now i've been using vs code for my notes but if Workflowy had this, I would be very grateful.
