    Michael,

Thanks for letting us know. We are fixing lots of bugs around search and expansion right now and we will fix this as well.

What OS/browser are you seeing this happen on? Does it happen in other browsers for you as well?

    Thanks,

    Lee

Thanks for the reply. It's happening on Windows with both the Chrome and Brave browsers.

This should now be fixed. Are you still seeing it broken?

Yes and no. Yes you can expand a searched item and work inside of it. That is fixed. But no it will not save your place if you leave the search.

The way it used to work was you did a search, you expanded an item, you placed your cursor inside of it, you hit escape to end the search and you were now navigated to wherever you put your cursor. There are lots of ways that this is useful but I used it as a way to move around a large document like a novel or a screenplay. A screenplay would have headings with the scenes nested inside of them. All the headings would be expanded so you were looking at one large document. The headings would have a scene tag that I could hit to do a search. The search would collapse all the headings. I could expand a heading in a completely different part of the document, place my cursor inside, hit escape and bam, all the headings are expanded again but I am now in a completely different part of the document.

Does that make sense? Even if you don't use it in this way, it's the way Workflowy should work. If you do a search and place your cursor in a different location, after you leave the search you should always end up in this new place.

I just realized that even if you don't change the cursor location you end up losing your place after a search. This is really bad. If I am working in the middle of a very long list and I do a search, when I leave search I have lost my place. Right now ending a search always puts the cursor at the top of the list, which is not good. Workflowy should always keep the cursor wherever it was during the search, exiting search should not change a thing.  But at the very least it should go back to where it was before the search. Should I put this bug as a new thread?
