Clone/alias/twin feature request
CompletedScenario
Complex social transformation project, with a book being written. Meanwhile, I am generating various summaries of different length and structure from copious notes with many similar versions of various points.
What would make this a dream for me is a clone/alias/twin feature, whereby an item can be duplicated as a paired clone item.
Tagging lets me filter items so I can see them in one place, which is awesome. However, I need to order and structure those items differently for different purposes, and filtering by tag still reflects the nested structure of the tagged items. When drafting and editing prose, I need to see the entire syntax of a paragraph or section, which lets me see where I can make improvements in content, style, and order, both within and between sentences and paragraphs.
At the moment, I'm transferring sentences and paragraphs from WorkFlowy to Pages, and changing order and content there, since I'm taking different sentences from different sections, and combining them differently for various documents to be output. However, if I make an edit in the Pages doc, I have to remember to either edit the Workflowy original item to match, or copy and paste back into WorkFlowy. This is a workflow bottleneck. I want to stay in Workflowy until final export.
I want to specify a subset of items to be cloned (via special tags or contextual menu command) and then be able to display these in one place without their parent/child structure. I can then reorder items as desired for each different document, without changing the ordering/structure of the respective clone items. If I edit a clone however, its twin would change immediately. Effectively, this would give me a unique draft within WorkFlowy which is only visible via the tag/clone button, with the option to copy and paste into alternative draft versions, which could themselves be given unique tag identifiers, maybe with an index display to show different cloned versions.
If WorkFlowy had tabs (can do that with browser only currently), or could display multiple columns (browser windows are a workaround), I could then tag items from my source material and they would appear automatically in the similarly tagged/cloned view, which I can then reorder and edit, and transfer to final output application only when I am completely satisfied with the flow of the whole document.
This would be a WorkFlowy and writing superpower for me!!!
If anyone knows how I can do this or similar currently, I would love to hear about it!

I would love this feature! In my case, I want to have a list of projects with tasks beneath them. Then I'd like to slice it a different way and have an agenda of what I want to do today, what I'm planning for tomorrow, and what's on the horizon for later this week. I want to pull out tasks into this list, without having them leave their master home within the project. And when I edit or complete an item in one place, I'd like it to be reflected in the other place too.

Yes!!!
Exactly that is the feature I asked in another thread while requesting a need for creating "aliases".
Hope we see it built soon, it will give us so many new organizational possibilities that will be an absolute game-changer for the way we use WorkFlowy!
