Cannot open emoji & symbol panel with keyboard shortcut

I can open the emoji & symbol panel via the menuboard. but not with the intended keyboard shortcut (ctrl. + cmd + space). This shortcut is mentioned in the menuboard and works in notes, chrome and word.

  I ran into the same problem, so I changed the Mac keyboard shortcut for opening the Emoji Keyboard. No more copy/pasting emoji into WorkFlowy!
