I was hoping that the subject of being able to open multiple tabs would have been requested and I am happy to see that it has.

For me, using Workflowy for brainstorming, i miss a feature where I share a window say on teams and people can read what I write as they brainstorm without them to (accidentally) see the rest of my workflowy items on the side.

Tabs would better help to focus on one subject.

One way to get multiple instances of Workflowy on desktop is to add Workflowy as an App in Edge (probably works in Chrome as well) which creates an app shortcut (PWA). With the new Workflowy app opened, you can create a new window (cmd+N on mac) which loads another Workflowy instance.

Thanks for the idea, Benjamin! This thread has been up for +4 years, so it's pretty unlikely that the WorkFlowy team considers tabs/multiple instances as a priority. However, your post inspired me to pay a few bucks for Groupy, install WorkFlowy as a PWA as you suggested, and just combine it with the desktop instance for this effect:

Hopefully someone else will find this useful.

Yes, but these are quite rudimentary workarounds. Better than nothing, I know, but still you wouldn't be able to play and drag & drop around multiple panes like in a proper built-in solution :(

Just to say... this was nearly the first feature I have looked for when I have installed the app, straight after the word count (which was first) :-)

Thank you Benjamin and Petko for your comments.

Having this feature in desktop app would obviously be great, but I do not understand the advantage of Multiple Instances as tabs in your method, compared to having browser tabs.

For example; I mainly use Safari and Chrome on my computer and both would be open most times. For lighter memory consumption and to allow command+tab I downloaded Brave as a third browser just for WF and tabs. What would be the advantage of your method compared to this?

    Thanks!

I highly desire this feature, (tabs in WF desktop app). I hope it is in the que for for this year. I'd prefer to have it built in, versus having to pay for a program like Groupy.
