Navigating to search results

When using the web or desktop, I often want to use Search to find a section, and then keep working in parts of that section that don't contain the search term.

If I don't clear the search box, nearby sections that don't contain the search term are not displayed.

But if I do clear the search box, the cursor moves back to the top of the document, so that it's no longer in the section I was editing.

How can I use search to navigate to a location, and then keep the cursor at that location while allowing the entire list to be displayed?

I must be missing something obvious, but I can't figure this out.

  I'm looking for something like this too. Would prefer not to install any browser extension (I use the client). Some kind of facility to clear the search results while leaving your cursor in the current position would be fine.
