Create Hyperlinks
Completedcan you please create Hyperlinks to external websites instead of forcing us to paste the entire weblink into the workflowy document? It makes them much longer then they need to be and hyperlinks are much cleaner looking then seeing the entire URL - especially when a single workflowy page has 100 URLs.

Hey yall. This is Jesse, and we are going to do hyperlinks. In fact, we recently did a bunch of technical work to enable them (they were blocked for that reason).
We're removing the untrue comments about things I didn't say :)
For anyone new to this thread, someone pretended to quote me that I hated hyperlinks, and it started a bit of a fire. For the record, I actually love hyperlinks. They're delightful.

This. +1.
It sounds like it's not going to happen, but I just wanted to plead with you guys at WorkFlowy. Jesse, I know that we don't know each other, but: please, please, please. The inability to embed links behind text (essentially just re-titling the link rather than requiring me to call it whatever the link itself says) is the one thing that makes it impossible for me to use WorkFlowy exclusively. WorkFlowy is otherwise the holy grail of helping me organize my thoughts and finally migrate my (what feels like) 3 billion thoughts and snippets of information into a structured place that actually works the way my mind works. I am literally begging you to support this.
Just one last appeal to reason - the whole beauty of WorkFlowy is that it allows all of us users to organize and structure our thoughts in the way that works for our brains, rather than the typical modern tech-tool design philosophy of "you must think in the way that my product forces you to." The way that words look on a page and their spacial relationship to each other is hugely important to some people, including myself. Without the ability to effectively re-title [http://www.string] into the shorthand or descriptor that my brain uses to think about it, you are forcing me to think the way that you do instead of the way that I do.
Why would you impose your personal views about hyperlinks on me, requiring me to adopt your philosophy about them, rather than supporting the underlying mission of WorkFlowy to help people organize their thoughts in the way that works for their brains?
Please. Please. You can reach out to me and I will beg you over the phone, or honestly I will come beg you on my knees in person if necessary. I first found WorkFlowy 8 years ago, couldn't remember the name for so long, and finally found it again last week, but this is the one issue that prevents me from doing a full migration and hooking my brain into WorkFlowy completely. Please.

We have Anatoliy dedicated to fleshing this out... and it's happening as we speak (embedded links and bidirectional links). We're taking notes from a certain WorkFlowy clone...
I think if one were to start rewatching the TV series, LOST... and watch one a day until you're done... we should have this all in place by the time you're done.
Then again... it could happen a lot sooner.

Agree. It will be very nice to provide some small function moudles for user to custom.
I love the clean design of Workflowy: Just lists (Indent/outdent/zoom in/zoom out/expand/collapse) ,tags(@,#) and Star can be used for anyone to meet multiple demand. Amazing!
But the output and disappear are not my agreeables. I'm a big fun of markdown, and the links showed in workflowy real ugly.So ,please, consider the function that the markdown output or shortened URL carefully.

That is really ridiculous. I am a total fan of WorkFlowy, but here Jesse seems to totally misunderstand the essence of the web. I use WorkFlowy for everything, including lots of project documentation for clients. Explicit hyperlinks are extremely ugly, unprofessional looking, and unnecessary in documentation. So, please WorkFlowy, get your act together and listen to your long-time customers and fans!

Can you explain?
I just tried the menus, the standard hotkey (ctrl-K), right click, [markup](http://likethis.com), and nothing worked. I don't see documentation either.
As far as I can tell it has not been implemented. -

"We're planning for backlinks, transclusion, embedded hyperlinks"
Frank, you've whet my appetite with "backlinks". What is that? Is that like the bi-directional page links in Roam Research? That would be cool, as well as transclusion of course. Roam's page linking features seem very cool, and would be awesome to see in Workflowy. Looking forward to it!

AM I DREAMING OR IS THIS NOW AVAILABLE?! IT LOOKS LIKE I CAN RENAME HYPERLINK TEXT!!!!
Something like this is EXACTLY what I was wanting; something that doesn't break WYSIWYG. I'm so happy! (but also still a bit unsure if I should be in case I'm just dreaming.)
Thank you for this! I might just have to sign up for a subscription...

Hi guys,
Indeed, this is the beginning of embedded hyperlinks... and will be polished to a shine. We're probably going to switch over to the regular modal popup that allows one to replace the link with text... also, we're going to be implementing cross linking (bidirectional links), automatic link replacement (link > list title text when pasting internal links)... this is all in the works... and more.

I'm a new workflowy user, and it would be so great to be able to keep all my favorite links in workflowy. Ironically, even the text box I'm using for this comment makes it super easy to add a link!
I have links in chrome that are supposedly synchronized, but never work right, so I have a page at work in Confluence, but that's a pain in the neck to edit, and besides it doesn't have the wonderful zooming capabilities of workflowy. Then I started a wordpress blog to keep all my links in, but it doesn't really work that great either, precisely because there's no way to zoom/expand and contract the list. I *love* workflowy. Zooming is brilliant! I feel like it's actually life changing because it helps me stay on task at work amid all the massive number of distractions we all now face.
So being able to have all of my important links in one place that's easy to use would be yet another way workflowy changes my life.
Thanks!!!!!

This subset of development is the primary reason I'm still a subscriber and am still telling people to use WorkFlowy.
The immense power of transclusion and linking cannot be overstated.
What do you guys think about the option of opening an iframe on the right side of the list when you click a link (maybe a link with special syntax?) in a node? Like if I have a google spreadsheet with my budget in an embedded link [[My Budget]]. Then, when I click on [[My Budget]] the WorkFlowy website, instead of redirecting me to another tab, simply throws an iframe to the right, condenses my list to the left, and gives me a 50/50 productivity view to work on my budget doc real quick. This could be used as a way to create productivity "flows" (get it? :P).
First node: [[Calendar]].
Second node: [[Email]].
Third node: [[My Budget]]
Fourth Node: [[Work Website]].
Last node: Home>Inbox (transcluded node).
So as I work through my daily routine if I see anything I need to toss into my Inbox node I can just chuck it in with no break in flow. Then I can do what I *really* want to do and just live in WorkFlowy.
Thoughts?
Edited for grammar and clarity.

"Are you planning to support the [[link]] syntax for hyperlinks to other items WITHIN WorkFlowy?".
Absolutely +1
This doesn't seem to be such a complex feature to implement and would completely change the game for how we use WorkFlowy. If we can access the same bullet point from different places of our data structure, that would allow us to work with WF more as our brain does. By interconnecting ideas and reaching to them from different branches of the organizational tree and not only having them archived in a hierarchy structure.

I too really miss being able to insert hyperlinks like I can in Google Docs or even in simple macOS TextEdit. I only ask that WorkFlowy doesn’t do it by having two versions of text (syntax/Markdown version and rendered version) and jumping between them whenever we go to edit text. It is too disorienting and ugly. I know other online outliners do it like that but I really don’t like it. WYSIWYG is better. Thanks

Hi Frank,
Any hints on the updated schedule for hyperlinks then?
As a side note, are you planning to support the [[link]] syntax for hyperlinks to other items WITHIN WorkFlowy? I think Dynalist has it this way and it's pretty nice, even though I did not explore it in detail.
Thanks for any answer in advance!
