Yup, was reluctantly considering a switch to Roam because of bi-directional links. Linearly stacked notes aren't manageable. There have been so many times where identical information needs to go under different notes. The options were, duplicate the data or create a complex mess of tags. Neither work great.

Bi-directional link solves this fundamental flaw create a network of much more useable info - especially how Roam have implemented it with summaries etc. at the bottom of each note. It more closely mirrors how the human mind works with multiple cross connections. Can't wait for the upgraded Workflowy - thanks to WF team for listening :)

Max, What's your estimated time of delivery for bi-directional links?

Any update / time-frame on this?

I need to completely reorganise my WF data but I'm reluctant to do it until bi-directional links are available, I'm stranded in limbo until.

    Cheers,

    Chris

In my Workflowy, I have a lot of links to other nodes within my Workflowy. Let's say that I have 10 links to a node called "The plan". In the overwhelming majority of cases - let's say 9 times out of 10 - I want the text of these links to be the same as the node to which they link - "The plan".

My problem is that I rename my nodes all the time, so chances are that the node that's called "The plan" today will be called "Strategy" tomorrow. And so I end up renaming all of the links to this node as well - manually - from "The plan" to "Strategy".

Does anyone else have such a problem?

Bi-directional links should be of great help to me to find all of the links to a node that I want to rename, but I'd still have to do all of the renaming manually.

Could we add a checkbox called "Mirror name" to the pop-up window where you edit links, between the Text field and the Link field, so that all links with this checkbox ticked would simply mirror the name of the linked node? So that, if I rename the linked node from "The plan" to "Strategy", all such links to it would automatically rename themselves from "The plan" to "Strategy" as well?

Or maybe we could have this functionality if you enter something like "@@mirror" into the Text field of the link?

OK so bi-directional links (i.e. backlinks)  are not going to happen soon, right? Is this a software architecture issue?
