Multiple ways of expanding/collapsing lists
AnsweredThere are a few expand/collapse functions.....
- Expand/Collapse all - just double click the Workflowy icon
- Expand/Collape all under one parent item - zoom in on the parent, then double click on the parent text
- Expand Collapse level by level, under one parent - zoom in on the parent, click on the name of the zoomed item (at the top in big font) and then using the ctrl+up/down shortcuts while focused on that item. It will expand or collapse all items below the zoomed item to the same level.

The expand / collapse function seems not to be working as intended.
- When I double-click on the workflowy logo, it collapses all, but does not expand when I double click it again
- When I double-click on the parent text, it does not collapse or expand all
- Also the single level wise expand/collapse by clicking the parent text once is not working.
I am using the web version on the latest version of Chrome browser on my Windows laptop.
This is a terribly useful feature and I miss being able to use it. Would be happy to learn if I am using this in the wrong manner.

Correct @John and that is the expected behaviour: you "go back to the state" you left the last time you worked on that part of the tree.
There is no other way to expand or collapse one level only.
Otherwise use the Fast Menu to choose the collapsed state you would like to work with and then use the CTRL shortcuts to expand.

It's more complicated than that. These shortcuts work differently depending on whether cursor focus is in the zoom parent, or in the list children below. With cursor focus in the zoom parent:
Ctrl+Space = Expand/Collapse ALL
Ctrl+Down/Up = Sequentially Expand/Collapse one level at a timeWith cursor focus in a list child:
Ctrl+Space = equivalent to clicking the expand arrow, toggles the last state
Ctrl+Space+Space = Expand/Collapse All (you can achieve the same by double clicking the arrow)
Ctrl+Down = Expands to last state
Ctrl+UP = Collapses to last state
Bear in mind, due to WorkFlowy's lazy loading you can run into some funky behavior with really long lists; items that haven't loaded yet won't get expanded.
