Can you elaborate? Is this the behavior that hides all but the first line of a comment once it is no longer selected?

That might be it. Below are 3 examples of how notes/comments look in columns view. The first option is how it currently is, where only the one selected is shown completely. The second uses bullets instead of comments and is still pretty illegible. And third would be my ideal solution to the problem -- an option to disable the autohide feature altogether and allow me to view all notes/comments at once.

Ideally there would be an option to select how comments are displayed:

    1. Preview the first comment line, then expand to display the full comment when the node is selected. (This is the current behavior, and could be the default)
    2. Preview the first comment line, then expand to display the full comment on hover over the node. (This actually might be the nicer default, and people who like it the current way can always change it back)
    3. Always display the full comment (as Mr. Hilderbrand would like)

I'm just begging the devs to let us disable autohide at the bare minimum. It makes no sense to hide the users information by force. Hover does sound nice, but please. Let us see the information we wrote down.

I've gotten around this by using the bold/italics/underline formatting features to structure my documents in a very similar way to how you've displayed, while using shift + enter to essentially just add one line addenda to certain things. But I agree that it is inflexible. Even this trick then limits where I am able to use these formatting w/out disrupting legibility. It is also very high maintenance.

Toggling shift + enter in the same way we toggle expand/collapse would be terrific.

I'll see you and raise you:
What if we could edit a mini-document under a node title using a TinyMCE-style editing frame?

Dynalist had an option to 1) hide all notes 2) show only first line 3) show 2 lines 4) show everything.

    I loved it.

Unfortunately Dynalist is no longer developed (or so it seems).
